Cutting Edge Festival
Glad to see that PERMIDES vouchers are bearing Fruits.
It was a busy day of networking, exciting projects and enthusiastic SMEs at the Cutting Edge festival on 26 September, which is Norway’s largest interdisciplinary business jam session for scientists, technologists, entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers.
Oslo Tech, UiO and Inven2 were the organizers of the event, and as I expected, there were several Health, Bioinformatics and Biopharma companies (together with some software, space and robotic tech companies) at exhibition areas of the event at the Oslo Science Park.
I was very glad to see the prototypes from two biopharma SMEs from Norway, that were benefitted by the PERMIDES Consultancy Voucher and Innovation Voucher funding scheme. The SMEs expressed their gratitude and explained to me how the funding from PERMIDES kickstarted the collaborations with IT partners which led into the development of their software products that are beneficial for patients, hospitals and other drug discovery/biopharm organizations.
PERMIDES is one out of five European INNOSUP-1-2015 – Cluster facilitated projects for new value chains projects (funded under EC Call for proposal: H2020-INNOSUP-2015-1). The voucher funding scheme of PERMIDES is aimed at SMEs from the biopharmaceutical sector developing novel personalized medicine products and solutions (e.g. biotech/medtech companies, diagnostics companies, CROs, biobank companies, bioinformatic companies). The second call for funding is open now, and we welcome applications from SMEs until 10th October 2017. For more details, please visit: http://permides.eu/open-call/
Eirik Torheim from Depict AS (Norway) says that they obtained two consultancy vouchers from PERMIDES, which also allowed them to partner with two IT companies located in Greece and Norway. He is very enthusiastic with the prototype they achieved with the support of consultancy voucher funding, and he look forward to submit an application for the PERMIDES second call for Innovation Voucher funding. Depict AS (Norway) together with the IT SME Ergobyte Informatics S.A. (Greece)received the first consultancy voucher for the project titled ‘Advancing Depict IT Infrastructure’. For the second consultancy voucher, Depict AS (Norway) partnered with Inonit AS (Norway) for the project titled ‘Infrastructure for automated and scalable provision of patient-centric medicinal information’. In the picture above, Eirik Torheim proudly displays the resulting prototype at his company’s booth @ Cutting Edge Festival, Oslo.
Jon-Bendik Thue, CEO of the SME MyHere/CleverHealth (Norway) appreciates the clear and simple application process that PERMIDES consortium has build for the SMEs to obtain the funding. He says that finding a partner at the PERMIDES online matchmaking platform will be very beneficial top both biopharma and IT SMEs to develop products and IT solutions towards personalized medicine. His SME collaborates with another Norwegian company FramX AS, and their application titled ‘Personalized medicine against prostate cancer’ obtained an Innovation Voucher in the first PERMIDES funding call. In this picture, Jon-Bendik Thue shows their IT solution that is under development supported by the PERMIDES Innovation voucher. He says that it combines patient empowerment, personalised medicine and data donation to help men today as well as providing improved research tools for the future. Their solution aims for an altruistic dimension, where users can contribute to advance research to improve the chances of one’s relatives and the general population in the fight against prostate cancer, and possibly other cancers as well.
